The stories
Created by writer Patrick Weber and artist Baudouin Deville and published by Éditions Anspach, Kathleen brings together adventure, history and a unique Brussels atmosphere. They have created six albums so far, each revealing a new chapter in Kathleen’s fascinating life.
Kathleen takes you on a journey through the turbulent history of Belgium and Brussels. From the excitement of Expo 58 and the independence of the Congo to the tragic Innovation department store fire in 1967 and the architectural masterpieces of Victor Horta, her adventures are filled with suspense, intrigue and unexpected twists. The story even takes us to Berlin in 1961, at a time when tensions between East and West were running high. The first album takes us back to the 1940s, when Kathleen is growing up in Brussels under German occupation.
Although Kathleen is a fictional character, her adventures are firmly rooted in real events and places. Her stories offer a unique way to discover Brussels – its history, architecture, streets and people.
