Lac de Genval: the Belgian Côte d'Azur

La Hulpe, Genval, Overijse

_DSF0974.jpg

Did you know that the Côte d'Azur is located just below Brussels? For a long time, the Lac de Genval was the place to be for all that was chic and mondaine. The arrival of the train triggered the metamorphosis. A walk past jewels of houses and a beautiful lake.

For lovers of architecture, history and culture.

The stories

We walk from La Hulpe to Lac de Genval. Along the way, we stop at Victor Horta's summer house, dive into the turbulent life of a world-famous cellist, see how a clever lawyer turned a swamp area into gold, what Schweppes and Guinness have in common, how a hot-tempered little guy becomes a sculptor, why a terrible gang loved forests, and discover that Latin masses are still alive and kicking today.
