The battle of Waterloo: a different perspective
Braine-l’Alleud

Waterloo, a small village in Brabant, became Napoleon's final defeat. 200,000 soldiers fought there on a few square kilometres, 50,000 died or were wounded. This walk is not about the egos of Napoleon or Wellington but dives into the lives of ordinary soldiers.
For lovers of history and... these of the ordinary folks.
The stories
Who were these soldiers fighting one another? What did soldier's life look like? What was in their backpacks? We relive the horrors, sounds and smells of the battlefield. This walk also tells the incredible story of a local farmer who became Napoleon's personal guide, how the first tourists descended on the battlefield the day after, how the Sonian forest filled up with distraught horses, ... in short, the Battle of Waterloo as you have never heard it before.
